If you are like most leaders we work with you begin to think of solutions immediately. What this means is you are almost always solving a symptom and not the root cause of the problem.

To be good at problem-solving you need to be able to go deep into the problem. We teach an 8-step problem-solving that allows you to get to the root of the problem.

Let me give you a few of the steps so you can start applying them now.

1. Make sure you listen to identify the problem.
2. Then, analyze the problem. Spend time really thinking through the problem from All angles. Often times the right question is not what is happening but what is NOT happening.
3. Describe the problem. This step makes you flush out facts and see the impact of what is or isn’t happening.

Once you slow down and do these steps you will then begin to be able to speed up and implement deeper solutions.
