Your opening should take anywhere from thirty seconds to four minutes. It should be tight and concise. Make it easy for people to follow your lead.
Here’s some more tips you will learn at our Presentation Skills Training:
Your opening should let them know why they are there and what they are going to get out of this talk.
Then you need to give them a roadmap of what you will cover in your talk.
We review all of this at our Presentation Skills Seminars and the fact that your roadmap should take the first seven to eight minutes of your talk but no more.
Depending on how elaborate your presentation is, your closing can take anywhere from one minute to ten minutes. The greater the call for action, the longer your closing will take because you will need to involve your audience with making a commitment to the desired action.
