Mastering Assumptive Closes in Sales Conversations
Mastering Assumptive Closes in Sales Conversations
August 2, 2024
In sales, closing the deal is crucial, and using assumptive closes can be an effective strategy. Here’s how you can employ this technique to sound like a partner rather than a salesperson, making the process smoother for both you and your client.
1. Use Assumptive Closes
Assumptive closes involve making statements that assume the client has already made a decision. This technique helps guide the conversation towards a conclusion without making the client feel pressured. Here are some examples:
“It sounds like you’ve already decided on an open classroom format. Based on that, will you have everyone attend one or multiple sessions?” “It sounds like immediate delivery is of primary importance. Are you looking to change the type of paper you utilize or just the color brightness of the paper?”
2. Allow for Flexibility
These statements assume that your inference is correct, which allows the client to backtrack or adjust their details without feeling foolish. This approach positions you as a partner in the decision-making process rather than someone who contradicts their statements.
