Handling Persistent Interruptions: A Proactive Approach
Even with the best preparation, interruptions can still occur during your presentation. When all else fails, here’s a strategy for managing persistent interrupters effectively.
Addressing the Interrupter
If you find yourself repeatedly interrupted, try saying:
“You have some great questions, and I want to ensure I respect and answer each. Why don’t you see me afterward, and I’ll give you more in-depth answers? Now, let’s move on and keep the flow going.”
This approach acknowledges the interrupter’s questions while steering the focus back to your presentation. Usually, those who frequently interrupt do so to shift attention from you to themselves. You can maintain control of the session by offering to address their questions later.
